The Tennessee River Litter Tournament is back—and this year, we’re making it bigger and easier than ever! Instead of a single-day event, participants will have an entire month to get outside, clean up litter, and compete to make the biggest impact across the Shoals.
How It Works
Register as an individual or team, then spend the month picking up litter wherever it lurks! Clean up along the Tennessee River, local creeks, parks, roadsides, neighborhoods, or other public areas. Bring your collected litter to one of our designated drop-off locations, track your cleanup efforts, and watch your impact grow throughout the tournament.
Tournament Dates
September 1st to September 30th, 2026
You have the entire month to participate, so grab your friends, family, coworkers, organization, or team and get cleaning!
What You Need to Do:
Register your individual or team.
Get your supplies from one of our designated supply stations.
Clean up litter anywhere throughout the Shoals.
Collect and document your impact.
Drop off your collected litter at a designated drop-off location.
Submit your cleanup information so your efforts count toward the tournament.
Compete for prizes and help make the Shoals cleaner!
Where Can I Clean Up?
You choose the location! Clean up litter in areas such as:
Tennessee River and riverfront areas
Local creeks and waterways
Parks and recreational areas
Roadsides and public spaces
Neighborhoods
Other areas where litter needs to be removed
Please make sure you have permission before cleaning up on private property.
Supply Pickup & Litter Drop-Off
Registered participants can pick up cleanup supplies, including trash bags, gloves, grabbers, and vests at our designated supply pickup location. When registering, you’ll select the date you plan to pick up your supplies so we can make sure we have enough supplies available for everyone.

Prizes
Grand Prize — $500 to the group with the most volunteers participating
MVP Awards — $125 for most litter collected (1 winner for each county)
Constellium Recyclers Awards — $125 for most aluminum cans collected (1 winner at each county)
Track Your Impact
Your cleanup counts! Be sure to document your efforts and submit your cleanup information after each cleanup. We will provide you with a form to fill out!
